Field of Honor Veterans Event
The Field of Honor® is a dynamic display of 1,600 full sized American flags waving in unison in wind swept boldness. Provided by the Rotary Club of Georgetown, this will be the sixth year these flags are displayed at San Gabriel Park with events and programs presented throughout the week of Veterans Day, November 6 through November 11, 2022.
This display honors and benefits our veterans and first responders and celebrates our heritage. In addition to raising funds to benefit organizations who support our veterans and first responders, the Field of Honor® fosters unity, inspires patriotism and invokes gratitude for those who demonstrate love for our country and our freedom.
Vacation Liberty School owns and displays 8 flags at the Field of Honor® supporting and honoring our bravest and most honorable patriots. All displayed flags honor an active military member, reservist, veteran, first responder or the memory of a family hero or a friend.
Vacation Liberty School also shows additional support with our “Dear Hero” Station at the field. At the “Dear Hero” Station, everyone can write encouraging notes to heroes – to those heroes you don’t even know. Show our patriots we are proud of them. Rotary delivers all the letters created to Fort Hood or to the first responder locations in the area.
Interested in having a flag of your own? It is easy to purchase and dedicate your own flag as well as see the calendar of events on line at www.GeorgetownTXFieldofHonor.org. Once you have secured your flag, the Rotary Club will post it at the site for you and all to see. Opening ceremonies begin Sunday, November 6th at 1:30 pm at San Gabriel Park. Please, take the time to visit Field of Honor®, enjoy the freedom to thank our heroes.
